Great adventures

May

Pros: Cruise was like 3 different & thrill adventures: Japan, Bering Sea, Alaska! Loved the variety! The 3 very qualified lecturers were outstanding. We didn’t one! Specially restaurants were delicious.

Cons: Need excursion evaluations to be offered. Some were except others so/so. Also the captain’s announcements were heard in public areas( offered on channel 25 in the suites but by the time we’d turn it to 25 the announcement was over.

April

Pros: The crew was outstanding and it was an excellent value.

Cons: The embarkation process was vey chaotic and we were inline for almost 2 hours. The quality of the excursions was disapppointing; particularly the Highlisghts of Nara and the Shipping and Tea in Hong Kong.LOur guide had no knowledge of the significance of the sights on Okinawa and the Shipping and Team visited sights that many of us had visited on previous tours, and the tea was unappetizing, and the markets were filled with tacky souvenirs.

Beautiful, Comfortable, and Friendly Ship

September

Pros: Riviera is a beautiful ship that is just large enough to provide every amenity but still small enough to give friendly, personal service. We especially like the large, roomy shower and luxurious bed and bedding. The food and restaurant options are also outstanding!

Cons: We were disappointed that we could not get reservations in the speciality restaurants without having to share a table. While we don't mind meeting other travelers and ocassionally sharing, we had to sit at tables of 8 for two of our speciality dinners which slows the meal considerably.

Pros: Large ship for Oceania but not large.

Cons: Little hot but it is July

Big Fan of Oceania, Not So Much the Itinerary

April

Pros: The Riviera and The Staff, the food and the beautiful ship.

Cons: Communications, Currency Exchange, Internet

Recommended: Yes

For the first time in our five Oceania Cruises we were disappointed to an extent. Visiting Southeast Asia, particularly the Chinese controlled region is a bit difficult and frustrating. Our internet was essentially blocked and not available for nearly a week, language and communications were difficult and on two occasions 'money exchanges' attempted to steal through the exchange process. Acceptance of American credit cards is inconsistent. The one negative comment I'd make is that Riviera's internet definitely needs to be upgraded. There was widespread frustration among the guests about it, when we were away from the Chine 'influence'.
